One of the most popular infectious disease specialists in Albania, Pellumb Pipero has tested positive for novel coronavirus two weeks after receiving the first vaccine dose.
Pipero announced on Wednesday that his colleagues are examining his case, which is more frequent in countries with a high level of vaccination, according to him.
Albania was provided 950 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses by an undisclosed donor, which have been administered on medical staff and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Doctor Pipero reminded his colleagues to take extra measures against the virus during the interim period between the first and the second shot.
Albania has signed an agreement for 500 thousand doses with Pfizer, of which 32 thousand were expected to arrive in February. It’s not clear whether the delivery date will be postponed due to production delays that have been announced by the company.
