Sixteen people infected with COVID-19 have died in Albania in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,488. The victims’ age varies between 58 and 84.
The number of new cases today was 1239, while total cases have amounted to 87,528. This is a record high since the beginning of the pandemic. Today the government warned it will toughen restrictions due to the increased numbers of infections and deaths.
Those recovered in the last 24 hours are 805 people; 52,933 since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are currently 471 patients hospitalized with the virus, of which 32 in intensive care, and 11 intubated in aggravated condition.
The distribution of new cases is as follows: Tiranë (553), Durrës (84), Elbasan (61), Lushnje (58), Kavajë (39), Shkodër (36), Fier (36), Sarandë (32), Lezhë (30), Krujë (22), Vlorë (21), Delvinë (21), Kurbin (18), Gjirokastër (16), Mirditë (15), Librazhd (15), Malësi e Madhe (15), Kukës (14), Berat (13), Pogradec (13), Berat (12), Ura- Vajgurore (11), Kamëz (8), Përmet (8), Patos (8), Mallakastër (6), Gramsh (6), Vau i Dejës (6), Kuçovë (6), Tepelenë (4), Belsh (4), Dibër (4), Peqin (4), Skrapar (4), Vorë (4), Memaliaj (3), Has (3), two cases in Devoll, Pukë, Tropojë, Mat, Divjakë, Himarë, Kolonjë, Shijak, Cerrik, Poliçan, Këlcyrë, Libohovë, and one case in Selenicë, Roskovec, Maliq, Konispol.
33,107 cases remain active in the country: Tirana (19284), Fier (2829), Durrës (1800, Elbasan (1539), Shkodër (1536), Vlorë (1544), Lezhë (1138), Korçë (998), Berat (861), Gjirokaster (722), Kukës (476), and Dibër (380).
