Over 32 percent of Kosovo citizens cast their vote until 3pm in Kosovo elections, an increase of 3 percent compared to last elections in 2019.
Participation in elections in the Serb-majority municipalities of Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Leposavic was more than 60 percent, the Central Elections Commission reported.
Around 1.8 million citizens have the right to vote in parliamentary elections.
28 political entities and 1,052 candidates are running for 120 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo.
The Kosovo Low Institute (IKD) has reported that COVID-10 restrictions has not been implemented in some polling centers.
“During the first hours of voting, in many polling stations it has been observed that a large number of individuals do not keep their distance and do not wear masks. In some polling stations there was not even any hand disinfectants,” IKD said.
In 38 municipalities there are 888 polling centers where citizens have been voting since 7 am.
Snap parliamentary elections in Kosovo are taking place after the Constitutional Court found the voting in of the government led by Avdullah Hoti unconstitutional, due to a decisive vote of MP Etem Arifi who had been sentenced to prison at that time.
