SPAK to Investigate Judge who Dismissed Deputy Mayor Luxury Hotel Case

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption (SPAK) will investigate Judge Sokol Toma, who dismissed the case against Deputy Mayor Arbjan Mazniku who had his stay in a luxury Spanish hotel, paid for by the owner of Fusha Shpk contracting company, Shkëlqim Fusha.

According to media reports, the Special Court of Appeals ordered SPAK to verify the judge’s actions following a complaint made by the Alliance for the Protection of the National Theatre.

The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office closed the case in December 2019 as per the request of the prosecutor.

In September 2019, some media outlets published a form signed by Shkëlqim Fusha, which authorized Arbjan Maznik to use Shkëlqim Fushë’s credit card to pay his expenses at the Alma Hotel in Barcelona, ​​on 21 June.

With this document, Shkëlqim Fusha, the owner of the company Fusha Shpk, paid EUR 1816 for Mazniku’s two-night stay.
