A video has been published appearing to show the Director of ALPO RTV in Gjirokaster sexually harassing a young female employee at work.
In the footage, Director Aristotel Petro appears to grab, squeeze and then caress the young woman’s behind while they are at work. The video appears to have been shot through a window without the knowledge of either individual.
Petro responded to the accusations of sexual assault by admitting it was him in the video but denying he was sexually harassing the young girl. He said the video was a “trap” on behalf of the man who filmed it. He said he knew the presence of the girl was a trap and was just playing the game.
He then said his hand slipped and it wasn’t intentional.
In a recent report from the Albanian Helsinki Committee, sexual harassment and misconduct were observed by many female journalists. The majority did not report such incidents for fear of repercussions or being blacklisted from the Albanian media industry.
