The High Court of Albania upheld the dismissal of former deputy director of Operation Force of Law (OFL), Artan Shkëmbi, after rejecting his appeal against the decision of the Special Appeals Court.
Artan Shkembi was suspended on charges of deconstructing an operation launched by German authorities.
Shkembi was being investigated for about six months after he was suspected of leaking important information about police investigations into a powerful criminal group. He has now been accused by Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SPAK) for corruption and leaking information.
Shkembi was suspended from work on September 29th by Police General Director Ardi Veliu.
On February 28, Shkembi was confirmed in office by the police Vetting Commission. He passed all three sections; qualification criteria, wealth, ethics, professionalism.
