Albania Has Capacity to Vaccinate All Doctors of Kosovo, PM Says

Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama stated that Albania is ready to vaccinate all doctors from Kosovo, starting from Friday.

Rama made this statement on Thursday from Rinas Airport near Tirana where he received 192.000 doses of the Chinese vaccine against COVID-19, Sinovac.

“I want to say that from tomorrow [Friday] we will take over the vaccination of Kosovo’s white coats, and if more doctors from Kosovo want to come, it can be done in a very short time,” Rama said.

He said that the first doses Albania received so far, can realize the closest objective which is to facilitate the touristic season.

Earlier Rama promised the vaccination of 11,000 doctors from Kosovo.

A few days ago 60 doctors from Kosovo went to Kukes in northern Albania and get vaccinated.

Kosovo is the only country in the Balkans that did not start the vaccination process.

There are discussions ongoing with Izrael to provide Kosovo Pfizer vaccines while it’s waiting on the first vaccines through the World Health Organization mechanism COVAX.

Sinovac is one of the main producers of vaccines COVID-19 in China.

The company raised its yearly capacity of production in 2 billion doses and offered its vaccines in over 16 countries and regions.

The head of Sinovac stated that the vaccine has an efficacy rate of 80-90% within 2 months after taking both doses.
