During the third week of the election campaign, the political parties and their MP candidates continued their electoral meetings in several cities of Albania. Exit brings you a roundup of the key promises and comments made during yesterday’s meetings.
Socialist Party (PS)
- Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Skrapar where he asked citizens to help him beat President Ilir Meta.
- Taulant Balla, political leader for Elbasan met with residents of Funar. He said his party would work to ensure the natural resources of the area generate income for the residents.
- In Librazhd, Balla said he would open the economy and a new road would bring tourists and income to the area.
- Candidate Luljeta Bozo said that the PS is the only political force that believes in the strength of women and that a vote for PS is one for family and the future.
Democratic Party (PD)
- Tritan Shehu filed a criminal report against seven mayors in the Gjirokaster region for allegedly not allowing political entities to publish electoral posters.
- Chairman Lulzim Basha signed an agreement with the United Fasonry Association.
- Candidate Xhelal Mziu said that youth would be a focus of the party and they would “overthrow the system” during a meeting in Dibra.
- Candidate Floriana Garo said the party would work hard for tourism to bring it in line with other countries in the region.
Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI)
- Chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi supported the pledge of the Muslim Community and Catholic Church not to let their votes be bought.
- She called on all Albanians to vote in the election and to denounce any reports of pressure or intimidation.
- Klajda Gjosha presented the educational program in Tirana and promised hope and security for youth.
- Kejdi Mehmetaj visited Fier and said that education, well-paid jobs, and a better standard of living in the future of the area.
Nisma Thurrje (NT)
- Klodiana Zhubi presented another draft la. It foresees the right to water and electricity being considered absolute. For those on economic assistance, they propose free water and electricity to the level of meeting basic needs. They also suggest that utility bills be exempt from tax, and the promotion of solar and wind energy,
Vetevendosje (VV)
- Candidate Boiken Abazi set up stands in the city to distribute program points and talk to citizens.
Independent Candidate
- Independent Candidate for Dibra, Elton Debreshi reiterated the importance of miners’ status being granted, noting that the PS had broken their promise.
- He spoke of solidarity with the oil workers of Ballsh who are supporting his campaign.
