One man was killed and four people were wounded in Elbasan on Wednesday, four days ahead of the April 25 general elections in Albania.
Pjerin Xhuvani, reportedly a Socialist Party activist, was shot by Arber Papleka, reportedly an opposition activist, who later surrendered himself to the police.
One of those wounded is a police officer who was attempting to prevent the crime, police announced.
Local media reported of fire exchange between the two groups, presumably over arguments related to vote-buying.
An opposition activist was also shot and wounded this week inside an electoral campaign office in Kavaje.
