Kosovo organization Movement for Democracy has held a protest in front of the Albanian Embassy in Prishtina against the Open Balkans initiative.
“We oppose Prime Minister Edi Rama’s initiative to create a Mini-Schengen…we want to remind Edi Rama who Aleksander Vucic is, his links to Milosevic, Seselj, and some Serbian criminals who are responsible for massacres of civilians in Kosovo,” said the director of the movement Mexhid Ramusa.
The activists held a placard in front of the Embassy that included text referring to the initiative as “New Yugoslavia” and stating that “the future of our state is with the European Union and the United States of America.”
“Let us remind you who your accomplice Vucic is and what crime he has committed against the civilian population in Kosovo” it concluded.
Last week, Vuvic, Rama, and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev renamed the Mini-Schengen initiative “Open Balkans”. They have pledged to remove all borders between the three nations by 2020.
The initiative has been boycotted by Kosovo and Montenegro.
