Nine Fires Ablaze in Albania, Villages in South in Danger

The Ministry of Defense announced that there are nine wildfires burning in the country. The majority are in the north in Malesi e Madhe, Puka, Dibra, Kukes, Fushe Arrez, and Lezhe.

A new fire was reported yesterday afternoon in the village of Aliko in Finiq. It’s believed the origin of the fire was electrical but it spread due to moderate winds. Some residents of the area have been evacuated while others have worked to extinguish the fire. The nearby village of Jerme is also in danger.

Mayor of Finiq,  Kristaq Kico has asked for assistance from the government to combat the flames.
