An Albanian man from Fier in the centre of the country has been arrested for kidnapping, murdering, and then burying an eight-year-old boy in his yard, media reported on Tuesday (16 November).
Klodian Calamani, a 38-year-old man has been arrested and has admitted to the crime.
According to report, the child had gone missing earlier in the day and did not attend school. His mother raised the alarm with the police who checked CCTV footage in the neighbourhood. Images showed the child entering the house of Calamani but not reappearing.
Police visited his home to inspect it and the man became agitated before admitting to the crime. Police found him buried in a shallow grave in Calamani’s yard. It is believed the boy was already dead when he was buried.
The man had a criminal record and was in prison in 2006. It is also reported that he had kidnapped a 16-year-old girl in 2013 but she had been able to escape.
