The security situation in the country is stable and so far there are no indications that would suggest that there could be a threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of North Macedonia, said President Stevo Pendarovski after the 14th Session of the Security Council.
North Macedonia as a NATO member has made all the necessary preparations for possible scenarios, said Pendarovski with regards to the tensions on the Ukrainian-Russian border. It remains a potentially high-risk zone, he added.
“We welcome the diplomatic efforts at various levels, which take over the main factors in the international community giving a chance to dialogue and negotiations, and not to weapons and belligerent rhetoric,” said Pendarovski.
While there have been small symbolic signs of de-escalation in the past few days, it is still to still early to predict how events will unfold, the president stressed.
The Council concluded that with the intensified diplomatic activity of the international community in the recent period, tensions have been partially reduced, which opens space for re-establishing dialogue.
