Albania has been declared an “unfriendly country” by Belarus, following a similar designation by Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.
Belarus, headed by dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko, has not only sided with Russia since the war began, but the country has been actively involved in attacks and assisting the Russian army.
Russia declared Albania and many other countries as unfriendly in March. This means citizens of these countries cannot enter Russia due to their alleged actions against the Kremlin.
On February 27, Albania joined the EU in imposing sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. The assets of 654 individuals will be frozen, and Russian aircraft are banned from entering Albanian airspace.
Belarus has declared all EU member states plus 12 other countries, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Albania, as de facto enemies.
Since the war started, Albania has been clear that it sides with Ukraine, the EU, and NATO. In addition, the Tirana Municipality renamed the street the Russian embassy is on Free Ukraine Street and displayed multiple Ukrainian flags directly outside the perimeter.
