Albanian parliament has formally requested that Posta Shqiptare deliver packages to the homes of customers, thus fulfilling a legal obligation and protecting the rights of the customer.
Currently, any packages sent via Post Shqiptare are retained by the post office allocated to the specific area. A note is sometimes delivered by the delivery person, informing them that they must collect it.
The recipient must then travel to the post office within a certain time frame to receive the item, or risk paying additional fees or the item being returned to the sender.
The postal service is notoriously unreliable with not all notifications reaching the recipient.
But according to a draft resolution from the Albanian parliament, this could soon change.
The Assembly asks that the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) monitor the fulfilment of the obligation of Posta Shqiptare to deliver packages to the address of the individual. This should be done in the framework of consumer protection and as a legal right of the individual and an obligation of the postal system.
It also instructs AKEP to respect the right of citizens to port their mobile numbers according to the deadlines and procedures set out in law. It references a high number of complaints from mobile users who say their requests to port their mobile numbers have been rejected. The draft also notes the high number of complaints regarding operator compliance and the number of GB of internet provided in packages.
