Albanians Trust Government More in 2022 than in 2021

Albanian society is almost evenly split over how it perceives the work of the government, according to a new poll by Euronews Albania.

Just over 36% of the population positively assess the government’s performance, while 30.1% were in between and 33.7% rated it badly.

The poll asked Albanians about the performance of the government as well as credibility of institutions and politicians.

Three-quarters of left-wing voters supported the work of the government while just 2.8% of right-wing said the same.

The most problematic areas, however, were identified as the economy, agriculture, education, and health. The best performing were tourism, security, energy and infrastructure and culture.

In terms of the institutions, citizen trust grew in the media, SPAK, the police, the government, the EU delegation, and the US Ambassador.

Trust declined in the president, parliament, and the opposition parties.

To be specific, over half of Albanians trust the US embassy, an increase of 10 percentage points in 2021. Credibility for the EU increased by 13 points, similar to that of the general international community.

Government trust increased by nearly four percentage points and police by nearly three.
