Albanian wine won a total of 12 medals at the regional Wine Fair that took place in Belgrade over the weekend as a part of the Open Balkan summit.
The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama who said that an international jury including various wine experts from the world’s most popular wine fairs had handed out the prizes to local producers.
Among the winners were Nurellari with one gold medal and a silver medal, Faba with one gold, and Duka with a silver and a bronze. Other names included Belba and Medaur.
The wine fair was opened on September 1 by Serbian President Aleksandër Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovačeski. More than 400 wine producers from 22 different countries attended.
Other notable Albanian wines that did not win at the event but are worth trying include Albanica, Kallmet, and Lundra.
