Council of National Security, President Nishani Refuses Rama’s Absence

Today the Council of National Security (KSK) is expected to convene at 12:00 following a of Speaker of Parliament Ilir Meta to President Bujar Nishani to discuss the issue of Klement Balili. Speaker Meta declared that he acted upon the worries expressed by US authorities.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Edi Rama left for an unplanned visit to Kosovo, requesting President Nishani through General Secretary Ëngjëll Agaçi to be replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi. The President, however, denied this request, and refused to allow Deputy Prime Minister Peleshi to attend the KSK meeting.

Prime Minister Rama had also been absent in the previous KSK meeting, dealing with the issue of the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis.

This occasion also be the first official appearance of the new Minister of Justice Petrit Vasili, who is expected to be sworn in by President Nishani before the KSK meeting.
