In an interview with journalist Rudina Xhunga, PD leader Lulzim Basha rejected the claim of Prime Minister Edi Rama that the technical ministers in the government that were proposed by the PD will be fired after the June 25 elections: “their mandate is until September 9 because the state functions with rules.”
Nevertheless, there are no specific legal definitions of technical ministers and their mandates, and technically Prime Minister Rama will be able to fire them whenever he wants.
Referring to his ongoing demand for a public debate with Prime Minister Rama, Basha stated:
I don’t need a debate, left-wing and right-wing citizens need a debate. The debate is democratic culture, it is the American and European standard. What is better than those who claim to lead Albania in the coming 4 years to come out in front of the Albanians and each telling his accomplishments. The core of democracy is that they give account before the citizens and that the citizens judge with their vote. […]
I finished the National Road [to Kosovo] within two years, he hasn’t been able to finish Lungomare [in Vlora] in 4 years. He had the hole of Hajdin Sejdi 11 meters from the municipality and didn’t fill it for 11 years. Whether he works or not that’s up to the citizens and the public interest.
