Four deputies of the largest Kosovar party in Parliament, Vetëvendosja, have been given conditional prison sentences for throwing tear gas in Parliament two years ago.
None of the four deputies – Albin Kurti, Albulena Haxhiu, Donika Kadaj, and Faton Topalli – were present in the courtroom when the sentences were read.
Kurti and Kadaj each received a conditional prison sentence of 18 months, while Topalli and Haxhiu received 14 months each. Topalli also has to pay for the court expenses.
The deputies had obstructed the proceedings of Parliament in order to block the ratification of a border agreement with Montenegro and the establishment of a separate association of Serbian municipalities.
