During the Socialist Party Congress that took place this weekend, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke of three public policies he hoped to implement in the future:
- An undetermined amount of minimum wage increase in the private sector. Currently, Albania’s minimum wage is 26.000 ALL, or the equivalent of €211.
- Limited tax amnesty for all Albanians. Albanians living within or outside the borders of Albania must declare all the wealth, assets and savings, they possess within or outside the country, within a certain date. After the deadline, all those who have failed to declare the above, will be penalized.
- Development through reconstruction. Rama said that reconstruction efforts will not constitute only an infrastructure and housing project, but will also entail economic growth and more jobs. Construction companies will pay their employees at the rate of the country’s current average wage.
