The Ministry of Health has announced six new cases of Coronavirus in Albania bringing the total to 383.
Overall, 2753 tests have been conducted, with 182 in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases identified in the last day has been the lowest in recent weeks.
In addition to this, a further 15 patients have recovered- a total of 131 recoveries overall.
22 people have died from the virus, the latest being a 90-year-old.
Silva Bino from the Institute of Public Health said there are currently 67patients in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, five of which are in intensive care. At Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital, there are a further seven patients hospitalised, six of which are in intensive care.
Others remain at home in self-isolation and are in a stable condition. Those that have recovered from the virus are also at home and are self-isolating for a period of 14 days.
The geographical distribution of cases in Albania is as follows:
Tirana (181), Durres (38), Lushnje (5), Elbasan (11), Fier (26), Kavaja (8), Rrogozhina (4), Korca (17), Vlora (5), Shkodra (44), Lezha (14), Berat (2), Has (12), Kruja (5), Tropoja (4), Puka (4), Miredita (3).
Bino said:
“As can be seen, today we have a significant decrease in the number of cases affected by COVID-19 which shows that the epidemiological investigation and tracking of new cases or their contacts has functioned properly and has been carried out according to established protocols.”
She added:
“The Ministry of Health and Social Protection urges citizens to continue to respect social distancing measures. As the figures of recent days show, where there are cases within the same family, it is important that infection control measures are respected to the maximum within family circles, avoiding visits to relatives for any reason to prevent COVID transmission.”
