Albania Coronavirus Update, 21 April: 26 Dead, 25 New Cases, 345 Recovered, 609 in Total

A total of 25 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Albania during the last 24 hours.

In a press conference given this morning, the new cases were announced bringing the total number of affected to 609. In the last day, 242 COVID-19 tests were conducted.

The Ministry of Health said that they are continuing epidemiological investigations into the tracking of contacts in Kruja where 17 people tested positive. They are also conducting work in Kurbin where eight new cases were identified.

Today marks the first day since the beginning of the epidemic without any cases in Tirana.

So far 6017 suspected cases have been tested and of these, 609 tested positive. In addition to this, 18 patients recovered, bringing the total number to 345. There are currently 238 infected people in Albania and the number of those recovering is increasing.

26 people have lost their lives so far and there haven’t been any deaths in the past few days.

There are currently 32 patients in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, there are currently 31 patients, five of which are in intensive care. In Shefqet Ndroqi there are eight hospitalised, with five in intensive care.

The geographical distribution of positive cases is as follows: Tirana (253), Durres (42), Lushnje (6), Elbasan (!6), Fier (36), Kavaja (9), Rrogozhine (4), Korce (19), Vlora (5), Shkodra (99), Lezha (14), Berat (2), Has (13), Kruja (40), Tropoje (4), Puka (5), Mirdita (3), Kukes (11), Mallakaster (1), Kurbin (27).

The Ministry said that despite the daily fluctuations in numbers of cases, the situation is under control. Despite this, the number of hospitalisations remains stable.
