The Albanian parliamentary Law Committee has approved the government’s proposal to extend the state of natural disaster until June 23.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced he would file the proposal yesterday, four days before the initial deadline for the state of natural disaster, April 25.
This extension means that the preventative measures and restrictions put in place by the government will remain in place until June 23.
Albania has been in a state of natural disaster since November 2019, when an earthquake killed 51 people and damaged thousands of buildings.
The state of natural disaster was expected to end in March, but was extended until late April due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The parliament is expected to pass the extension in its next meeting.
