As the 30 days of Ramadan starts across the Muslim world, Albanian politicians and diplomats have offered their support for Albanian Muslims.
EU Ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca has wished “Eid Mubarak” to those who celebrate. In a Twitter post, he wished for joy, health and strength to all Albanian Muslims during these difficult times.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also extended his greetings to those observing the holy month. He thanked the Albanian clergy for respecting measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by suspending religious services and ceremonies.
Rama said that “this is the time to thank a thousand times from the bottom of my heart the Albanian clergy and the believers who are used to packing the temples at the time of these knocks for the high awareness and for the painful, yet tough and fair decision not to break loose from the chain of our national resistance, glorifying rather than embarrassing their Lord by keeping the temples locked.”
Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha also extended his greetings to the Muslim community. He recognised the additional sacrifice of not being able to attend mosques and called for strength to survive the pain and suffering that Albanians are currently facing.
“May God protect you and give you multiple rewards for your sacrifice,” he said.
The US Embassy and Ambassador Yuri Kim called for greater compassion, humility and more joy.
