Eugena Tomini, the Head of Epidemic Intelligence at the Albanian Institute of Public Health said that the opening of the country will depend on the balance of COVID-19 cases in the coming days.
Speaking on the TV Show “Opinion” last night, she said further relaxations of measures would not happen if there were 90 hospitalised patients and 10-15 in intensive care.
“Measures in the direction of reopening will be based on three levels of risk: low, medium, and high. Opening monitoring will continue over a two-week time interval and will then proceed with loosening measures. Constraints and population movement will be monitored for two months.”
She explained that the IPH has set parameters that they will use to ascertain the risk level.
“If we have an average of 12 cases per day along with 90 hospitalised patients and 10-15 in intensive care, the next phase of opening will not take place.”
Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu confirmed this adding that “the three key criteria are related to the epidemiological curve, the number of patients admitted to the hospital, and the severe cases treated in intensive care.”
Prime Minister Edi Rama said in a live stream yesterday that decisions whether to open land and air borders will be taken on 11 May, taking the situation at that time into account.
