After days of decline, the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Albania has increased once again.
In the daily announcement from the Ministry of Health, 17 new cases were reported bringing the total to 820. New cases were confirmed in Tirana (9), Kruja (5), and Kamza (3). The Ministry said that 11 of these cases are contacts of previous positive cases, while six are still under epidemiological investigation.
Head of the Institute of Public Health Albana Fico said that 270 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours. She said that 70% of all cases have recovered and there are currently 219 active cases in the country.
38 of the active cases are hospitalised and eight of those are receiving treatment in intensive care.
The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (99), Kruja (81), Shkodra (15), Kurbin (9), Elbasan (3), Kamez (3), Kukes (2), Mirdite (2), Berat (2), Durres (1)., Korce (1), Lezhe (1).
