Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the whole of Albania will emerge from COVID-19 restrictions as of 1 June. He said that this weekend will be the last regarding the ban on movements and so-called ‘red zones’.
“This is the last week of the remaining measures of movement, with the exception of cultural and sports activities, weddings and funerals where hundreds of people cannot gather, public transport, and beaches with safety precautions- everything else will be open,” he said.
As of Monday, cars will be able to move freely throughout the country, as will those on foot. Beaches will be open but only hotels can set up sunbeds and tents on the sand and only with a special authorization permit.
Social distancing measures in public places including shops, cafes and other locations will remain in place.
Details of the opening plan will be published on 29 May on the Prime Ministers’ preferred platform- Facebook.
