During the second week of the election campaign, the political parties and their MP candidates continued their electoral meetings in several cities of Albania. Exit brings you a roundup of the key promises and comments made during yesterday’s meetings.

Socialist Party (PS)

  • Prime Minister Edi Rama met with minorities in Finiq to discuss the development of tourism and agro-tourism in the area. Rama said that the government was also addressing property registration issues in the area.
  • He also spoke with residents in Himara and said that the issuance of titles has begun and would continue.
  • Speaker of Parliament and candidate for Fier Gramoz Ruci met with residents in Patos and said that the COVID-19 pandemic battle would end if the Socialist Party win the elections.
  • Candidate Taulant Balla met with residents of Togez and Librazhd and promised them their village would be a model for extending the “Urban Renaissance” process.

Democratic Party (PD)

  • Chairman of the PD, Lulzim Basha presented the program for Art, Culture and Heritage in the square where the National Theatre once stood. He promised that he would rebuild the Theatre as it was and in the same location.
  • PDs political leader Gazment Bardhi met with farmers in Cerrik. He said that one of his priorities would be lifting the village out of poverty and creating conditions for work and well-being.
  • In Korca, candidate Edi Paloka met with youth and discussed how infrastructure could be improved and what issues there were currently.

Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI)

  • MP candidate for Berta, Esmerelda Qirko met with members of the Roma community in Morava to hear their concerns.
  • MP Candidate for Durres Enon Karapici met with young people to discuss emigration and their future.
  • Chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi was in Lezha to present deputy candidates and promised that April 25 would end the “phenomenon of discrimination against Albanians.”

Vetevendosje (VV)

  • MP Candidate Boiken Abazi met with residents in Tirana and presented points of the VV programme.
  • MP Candidate in Gjirokaster Kreshnik Merxhani presented his programme to residents of Gjirokaster.
  • MP Candidate for Lezha, Iliaz Shehu held meetings with residents in the city and in Lac.

Independent Candidates

  • Independent candidate for MP in the district of Dibra Elton Debreshi met with residents in Vajkal. They discussed the mining sector and he said he would continue the effort to get their voices heard.
  • He reiterated his call for Miner Status noting that most receive a very low pension despite working 30-40 years.
  • Debreshi presented his program that includes pushing for Miner Status, solving local issues like roads, forests, and rivers, and supporting workers’ and social rights.
