Following the counting of votes for MP candidates which was almost completed as of last night, it was revealed that a total of 87 candidates didn’t receive a single vote.
Throughout the whole of Albania and considering the over 48% turnout for voting, these candidates, mainly from smaller parties, didn’t get a single ballot in their favor. The parties with the largest number of unvoted candidates were the National Front and the Alliance Popular Union of Emigration-Hour of Hope and the Conservatives.
Tirana had a total of 14 candidates that didn’t receive a single vote, while in Shkodra there were eight, Vlora 10, Lezhe four, Kukes two, Gjirokaster 12, Fier nine, Elbasan eight, Diber two, and Berat three.
A possible explanation is that some of the candidates ran in cities other than the one they live in so they and their family and friends could not vote for them. Some also belong to parties that did little to campaigning and didn’t pay people to run the campaign for them.
