The Albanian government has decided to allow resumption of lights with the United Kingdom starting from April 12.
Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu said the measure was recommended by the Committee of Experts upon their assessment of the pandemic situation in the UK.
“Taking into account the significant improvement of the epidemic situation in the United Kingdom, a country which has had an exemplary performance in terms of vaccination, also reflected in the significant decline in hospitalization and fatalities, [the Committee of Experts] has proposed the resumption of flights with this country,” the minister announced on Sunday.
Flights with the UK were suspended in December 2020, when fears of a fast-spreading COVID-19 variant prompted several countries to take the same decision. More than 60 of them still have a ban on flights with the UK.
