Albania Coronavirus Update 12 June: 36 Deaths, 31 New Cases, 346 Active Cases, 1416 Total Cases

A 71-year-old man has died due to complications related to Covid-19, bringing the death toll in Albania to 36. Health authorities said he had been in intensive care for several days and had other chronic diseases.

31 new cases of COVID-19 have been found in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1416. 

On Thursday, following the third consecutive record numbers in new cases, Prime Minister Edi Rama warned that lockdown measures could be reinstated if social distancing rules were not implemented.

The new cases were found in Tirana (8), Puka (6), Shkodra (5), Vlora (5), Durres (2), Kamez (2), Lushnja (1) and Elbasan (1).

Over 74 percent of those infected, or 1034 people have recovered.

There are currently 48 patients hospitalized with the virus, 7 are in intensive care.

346 cases are still active in the country in Tirana (199), Shkodra (45), Kruja (32), Kamëz (23), Durres (15), Mat (9), Puka (6), Vlora (6), Lushnja (6), Korca (1), Librazhd (1), Mallakastra (1), Tropoja (2), Lezha (1), Ura Vajgurore (1), Berat (1), Elbasan (1), Gjirokastra (1), Belsh (1).
