Albania Coronavirus Update 12 May: 4 New Cases, 163 Active Cases, 682 Recovered, 876 Total

Four cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total of the pandemic to 876.

Dr Rovena Daja from the Institute of Public Health gave this morning’s update. She described the current epidemiological situation as stable, based on the number of cases and the ongoing investigations. =

243 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and today is the day with the lowest positivity rate: just 1.64% according to Daja. Two of the positive cases were in Kruja, one in Tirana and another in Berat.

So far, 876 cases have been identified in Albania and 682 of them have recovered. There are 163 active cases, mainly located in Tirana, Kruja, Shkodra, and Kamza.

15% of active cases are hospitalised and only one person is in intensive care. There have been no deaths for over 11 days.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 11332 tests have been carried out- 10802 molecular and 530 serological.

The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (70), Kruja (51), Shkodra (16), Kamza (12), Fier (5), Kurbin (3), Elbasan (2), Mirdita (1), Berat (1), Durres (1), Korca (1).
