A 90-year-old man infected with COVID-19 has died this morning at the Tirana hospital, bringing the death toll to 25. He had been in intensive therapy for the past 11 days, and had also had diabetes, asthma and hypertension.
A further 19 cases of Coronavirus have been identified in the country during the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 494. Five of the new cases were registered in the northern city of Kukes, where a nurse has infected four family members and a colleague after getting the virus from a patient from the neighboring city of Has. Tests were administered on 58 people but only five resulted positive.
Three of the infected have recovered, 251 in total.
During the previous day, 252 suspected cases were tested, 4558 in total.
There are 48 inpatients at the two hospitals that are treating COVID-19 patients in the country; 12 are in intensive care, 4 of them are intubated.
The geographical distribution of cases as of April 15 is as follows: Tirana (237), Durres (42), Lushnje (6), Elbasan (16), Fier (32), Kavaja (8), Rrogozhine (4), Korce (18), Vlore (5), Shkoder (71), Lezhe (14), Berat (2), Has (13), Kruje (7), Tropoje (4), Puke (5), Mirdite (3), Kukes (6).
