Albania Coronavirus Update 16 June: 37 Deaths, 1064 Recovered, 82 New Cases, 571 Active Cases, 1672 Total Cases

82 new cases of COVID-19 have been found in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1672.

This is the highest number of cases found in a day since the first case in March.

A 68-year old from Puka succumbed to the virus, after several days in intensive care, bringing the total number of victims to 37.

The new cases were found in Tirana (28), Shkodra (18), Kruja (10), Vlora (7), Durrës (8), Elbasan (2), Kukës (2), Kamëz (3), Puka (1), and Korça (1).

The infected include people who have had contact with previously diagnosed cases, but also new ones into whom epidemiological investigations continue.

70 percent of those infected, or 1064 people have recovered.

Over 21,000 people have been tested since March.

There are currently 50 patients hospitalized with the virus, 8 are in intensive care, two are intubated.

571 cases are still active in the country in Tirana (271), Shkodra (86), Kruja (72), Kamëz (30), Durrës (33), Puka (11), Vlora (28), Lushnja (12), Korça (2), Librazhd (1), Mallakastra (2), Fier (6), Kukës (2), Tropoja (2), Mat (2), Lezha (3), Ura Vajgurore (1), Berat (1), Elbasan (8), Gjirokastra (1).
