Albania Coronavirus Update 24 June: 47 Deaths, 1217 Recovered, 67 New Cases, 850 Active Cases, 2114 Total Cases

67 new cases of COVID-19 have been found in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 2114.

A 65-year old from Tirana succumbed to the virus on June 23. A 34-year old from Librazhd passed away today after being intubated for several days. She also suffered from diabetes. The total number of victims so far is 47.

The new cases were found in Tirana (16), Vlora (6), Kruja (18), Kurbin (2), Fier (1), Kukës (1), Lezha (2), Shkodra (10), Lushnja (2), Durrës (1), Korça (1), Divjaka (1), and Vau i Dejës (1).

The infected include people who have had contact with previously diagnosed cases, but also new ones into whom epidemiological investigations continue.

70 percent of those infected, or 1217 people have recovered.

Over 25,000 people have been tested since March.

There are currently 82 patients hospitalized with the virus, 14 are in intensive care, one is intubated. This is the highest number of hospitalizations the country has seen since the beginning of the pandemic.

The average age of those hospitalized is 61 years old

850 cases are still active in the country in Tirana (375), Shkodra (124), Vlora (63), Fier (37), Elbasan (10) Korça (17), Lezha (20), Kukës (7) Gjirokastra (2), and Berat (1).
