Albania Coronavirus Update 24 May: 32 Deaths, 9 New Cases, 177 Active Cases, 998 Total Cases

A 64-year-old woman infected with coronavirus died last night, bringing the total death toll related to the virus to 32. This was the first fatality in three weeks. The woman had brain cancer.

Nine new cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in Albania during the last 24 hours, in Tirana (5), Durres (3) and Shkoder (1).

A total of 146 tests were conducted. The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 998.

According to the Ministry of Health announcement, 79% of those affected, or 781 people have recovered.

There are currently 15 patients hospitalized with the virus and four are in intensive care.

The eight new cases were found in Tirana, Durres and Kruja and were all contacts of previous cases.

A total of 13,279 molecular and 1,326 serological tests have been conducted since the pandemic began. 177 cases are still active in the country, mainly in Tirana, Durres, Kruja, and Shkodra.

The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (60), Durres (53), Kruja (27), Shkoder (11), Berat (10), Kamez (9), Fier (4), Elbasan (1), Mirdite (1), Korce (1).
