Albania Coronavirus Update, 27 April: 28 Dead, 10 News Cases, 422 Recovered, 736 in Total

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Albania has reached 736 with 10 cases confirmed in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health announced this morning that nine of the cases are in Tirana and the other is in Shkodra.

A total of 212 tests have been conducted during the last day, 10 of which were positive. Most of the new cases are reported to be family contacts of those previously diagnosed. So far, 7,491 suspected cases have been tested with 736 positive.

Also in the last 24 hours, 12 more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recovered to 422, or 57.3% of the total infected.

There are currently 286 active cases of Coronavirus in Albania and the Ministry says that the percentage of those recovering is increasing.

So far, 28 people have died, most of which had underlying health conditions.

29 patients are in the Infectious Diseases Hospital with seven in intensive care. At Shefqet Ndroqi, there are five patients with two in intensive care. Two patients across both hospitals are currently intubated.

The Ministry said that citizens should continue respecting the measures imposed upon them as it is the only weapon we have to curb the spread of infection. Even with a relaxation of measures, it is important to respect social distancing and personal hygiene.
