The number of people infected with Coronavirus in Albania has reached 146 with an increase of 23 cases in 24 hours.
The announcement was made this morning by the Ministry of Health as we are in what they are referring to as “the most difficult week” of the pandemic. A total of 111 tests were undertaken during the last day.
New cases have been registered in Kruja, an area previously untouched by the virus. Other affected areas include Tirana, Korca, Fier, Furres, Lushnje, and Lezhe. Epidemiologists are working intensively to track the contacts of those that are infected to disrupt further transmission.
The geographical distribution of positive cases is as follows:

- Lushnje 4
- Elbasan 3
- Fier 14
- Rrogozhina 2
- Kavaja 4
- Vlora 5
- Shkodra 3
- Lezhe 4
- Berat 1
- Has 2
- Kruja 1
A total of 72 patients are at the Infectious Diseases Hospital with four in intensive care. The rest are at home in a stable condition, self-isolating.
The Deputy Minister of Health Mira Rakacolli confirmed that 17 cases had recovered but would remain in quarantine for 14 days.
A total of five deaths have been reported so far.
