Six new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 856
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Health this morning. The six new cases came after 224 tests were carried out over the last day. The cases are located in Tirana and Kruja.
Marjeta Dervishi from the Institute of Public Health said there are currently 198 active cases in the country with less than 15% of them being inpatients in hospital. They are located in Tirana, Kruja, Shkodra, Fier and Kamza.
A total of seven cases have recovered in the last day, bringing the overall figure to 627 or 70% of all cases
In Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital and the Infectious Diseases Hospital, there are 29 inpatients and four in intensive care. There has not been a loss of life in 10 days with the death toll remaining at 31.
The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (95), Kruja (63), Shkodra (17), Kamza (9), Fier (4), Kurbin (3), Elbasan (3), Mirdita (1), Berat (1), Durres (1), Korca (1).
On Saturday and Sunday, the elderly and families with children of 14 and under are allowed to go outside freely. Shops will be open until 17:30 but will close on Sunday. Citizens are invited to respect the rules, maintain social distancing and personal hygiene. Businesses are requested to strictly implement security and hygiene protocols.
