Albania Presents Its Chairmanship Priorities to OSCE Permanent Council

Albania presented today in Vienna its priorities for the annual OSCE Chairmanship for 2020.

Addressing the Permanent Council, Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Edi Rama, who will be the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, revealed the Chairmanship’s motto: ‘Implementing our commitments together’.

Albania’s three priorities during this year will be:

  • ‘Making a difference on the ground’, conflict resolution, promoting the role of women in peace and security;
  • ‘Leveraging our acquis’, enhancing security against contemporary threats and challenges such as small arms and light weapons, organized crime, human trafficking, violent extremism, cybersecurity, and on promoting the freedom of expression and of the media, and combating violence against women;
  • ‘Dialogue’, promoting tolerance and non-discrimination.
