Albania to Allow Seasonal Workers to Work in Neighboring Countries

The Albanian government may allow Albanians employed in Greece and Montenegro to leave the country to go to work.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that there had been requests by Greek agricultural associations to allow Albanian seasonal laborers to leave the country. The Albanian government is currently discussing with the Greek companies opening the border for these workers.

Additionally, Greek Minister for Agricultural Development and Food Makis Voridis has expressed concern regarding the absence of foreign labor that has come as a result of the Albanian border closing.

Albanian laborers are usually hired by Greek farmers and agricultural companies to do seasonal field and harvest work.

The same issue is being discussed with regards to Montenegro, where thousands of Albanians from the northern cities travel to work.
