Albania to Open Schools for Senior Year High School Students

The Albanian government will open schools only for students on their final year of high school.

Minister of Education Besa Shahini announced on Tuesday that senior year high school students with go back to school for three weeks, May 18 – June 5, under strict measures of hygiene and social distancing. Classrooms will have no more than 15 students.

The decision is based on the need for these students to prepare for their final high schools exams that will be held on June 8 (foreign language exam) June 11 (Albanian language exam), June 15 (mathematics), and June 18 (students’ preferred subject).

Lessons for other student will continue online until the end of school year, May 29, and final exams for 5th and 9th grades are cancelled.

Shahini said the government decision about schools was taken in consultations with the opposition and President Meta.

Albanian closed schools on March 10, and lessons have been conducted online and on TV since then.
