Today, the Albanian Technical Committee of Experts announced a new set of pandemic restrictions, as cases in the country have been climbing steadily since July.
Beginning September 1, curfew will be extended, starting at 11:00pm. and lasting until 6am.
Anyone entering Albania will need to show either a proof of vaccination, a negative PCR test taken in the last 72 hours, a rapid test taken in the last 48 hours, or proof they have passed COVID-19 in the past six months. These rules will come into force on 6 September.
Otherwise, visitors will be required to undergo a 1o-day quarantine.
Furthermore, the Committee has made vaccination mandatory for health workers, academic staff, and students (over the age of 18). These groups will have until September 30 to get vaccinated.
Deputy Minister of Health, Mira Rakacolli, emphasized that masks will be required in all indoor spaces.
