Albanian Comedian Koço Devole Passes Away at 75  

Koço Devole, 75, one of Albania’s most popular comedians, passed away on Sunday after battling both a chronic disease and Covid-19 for several days.

Devole, 75, was a prolific actor who left behind outstanding and indelible characters in the memory of many Albanians, in particular in the first decade after the fall of the communist regime with characters ridiculing the regime and its leaders.

His career during the dictatorship also stood out for the memorable work. Devole was also a talented cartoonist, screenwriter and director. He acted in TV comedies for the public broadcaster TVSH starting from the late ‘70, published cartoons in magazines, and directed comedy movies and shows after the end of the communist rule.

Albanians took to social media to express their sadness over the news of Koço Devole’s death, as well as praise and gratitude for his work and legacy.
