18 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Albania during the last 24 hours. This is the second day in a row with increased numbers of infections following a reduction.
Seven cases were identified in Durres in a tailors shop and there were five new cases in Berat, four in Tirana and two in Kruja. Silva Bino, head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the Institute of Public Health said that most are contacts of previously identified cases.
A total of 219 possible cases were tested during the last day. Some 12,000 have been conducted in total and 900 positive cases have been identified. 180 of these are still active, mainly in Tirana, Kruja, Shkodra, Kamza, Durres and Berat.
Bino said that it is important that citizens abide by the rules and do not reduce their vigilance. Measures must be followed to minimize the spread of the virus between family members and the community.
As of today, there are 19 inpatients in the two COVID-19 hospitals, four of these are in intensive care. There has not been any loss of life in around two weeks.
The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (77), Kruja (46), Shkodra (16), Kamza (12), Berat (10), Durres (9), Fier (5), Elbasan (2), Kurbin (1), Mirdita (1), Korca (1).
