Besa Shahini, the Albanian Minister of Education will leave Albania at the end of her mandate as Minister.
“I have already informed Prime Minister Rama that I have made a decision. I will not continue to stay in Albania beyond this mandate, consequently, I will not be involved in the elections,” Shahini said in an interview with Ilva Tare.
She will return to her native Kosovo due to what she says are family reasons.
Shahini has come under fire many times during her tenure as a Minister, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the November earthquake.
She has also spoken about the negative comments she has received as a Kosovo citizen in Albania, as well as a woman in a senior position.
