The Albanian government has announced that field-based journalists, reporters, and operators can receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The announcement was made today by Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu.
“From today at noon, the vaccination of field journalists and operators starts. Tomorrow the vaccination of police officers will start,” she said.
So far, more than 155,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 including medical staff, teachers, and the elderly.
Today, the situation for expats and foreign residents living in the country was clarified. When their category is announced, they can proceed to the nearest mass vaccination point with their residence permit to receive the vaccine.
The news comes following the call of the International Federation of Journalists and the European Federation of Journalists to vaccinate media workers as they are essential to democratic societies. It’s expected that the vaccination of non-field-based journalists will be announced in the coming days.
