The Albanian government has decided to extend for an indefinite time the restrictive measures aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu announced her decision to extend all previous orders putting in place restrictions “until the epidemic is over”.
As a result, nurseries, kindergartens, schools, bars, restaurants, and all kinds of business activities banned before will still remain banned from offering services.
The government first closed schools until March 23, then in extended the order until April 3, before today’s decision to extend the closure indefinitely, until the end of the epidemic.
Likewise, social, political and sports activities will continue to be banned.
The Ministry of Health has also suspended planned surgical interventions until a second order.
About 64,000 families that are unable to sustain themselves and who receive social security will be contacted by the government and will be paid on time double the monthly amount of money they normally receive.
Albania has been under lockdown since March 9. It has reported 15 deaths from coronavirus health complications, 259 infected and 67 cured as of April 1.
