During today’s parliamentary session, Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu called her MP colleagues out for not wearing masks.
The Minister scolded the MPs, saying that they should serve as examples for regular citizens, as wearing a mask protects not only them, but also their colleagues and families.
Last week, medical experts also condemned MPs who failed to wear masks during Thursday’s parliamentary session.
Manastirliu stressed that there are currently 120 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in both COVID-19 hospitals, and that “soon, both hospitals’ capacities will be overwhelmed.”
She called on MPs and citizens, asking them to wear masks in closed spaces, and open ones wherein it is impossible to maintain a 2m distance from other people. This is the only way to suppress the number of infected cases, and, consequently, the number of those hospitalized, Manastirliu said.
